In regards to the matter of there being many different paths to God, people see many different religions and come to the conclusion that all religions must lead to the same place. They think that because there are different beliefs, somehow all these people are going to make it to God. The belief system that there are many paths to God is often referred to as syncretism.
Take just a moment and think about the idea that syncretism embraces. It says that if you believe and do the things regarding this religion, you will make it to God. If you believe and do the things in another religion, you'll also make it too. The only thing which matters in both cases is the sincerity of the person and God will somehow look upon this as acceptible.
When you take each of the books of major religious belief systems and you place them side-by-side, what you find is that they will be in opposition to one another. Teachings which would be in opposition to one another could not be so if they are leading you to the same place. Therefore, one of the relgions is true and the other is false -- they cannot both be right.
Consider the following example for a moment. A very old religion is Hinduism. It speaks of many gods and when you read the bhagavad gita (a common hindu religious book), you find there are eight different paths to God. The God of the Bible speaks of Jesus Christ and is a testimony of His life, death, and resurrection. In His own words, Jesus Himself said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father [God] except through Me” (John 14:6, NKJV). If Jesus says that He is "the way, the truth, and the life," then He is the way and not eight different paths in Hinduism.
Jesus' words state that "no one comes to the Father (and He refers to God the Father) except through" Him. Taking Jesus' claim to be true, a person who is following the path of hinduism and is not following the path of Jesus Christ would not be on the path to God. Either Jesus is who He says He is, or He is not. Either Jesus is the "truth" or He is not. He could not be 99.99999% the truth and walk around and say He is the "truth." To make such a claim, he would have to be 100% who He says He is or He is a lunatic.
You can take other religions like Buddhism, Taoism / Daoism, Islam, Mormonism, Zorastrianism, Jainism, Sikhism, Bahaism, etc., and use their cliams and see put them beside the claims of any other religion and you will find these do not fit together. Therefore, the statement that there are many different paths to God is false. There is only one path to God and you must determine which one is correct.
Jesus Christ made claim to being God in the flesh. He lived a sinless and perfect life -- something which we have not done. Therefore, we are in need of a perfect Savior and Jesus Christ is the only One who fulfilled the requirements of God perfectly. Jesus Christ is the only way to God. Only the God of the Bible is true. Call on Him to save you. Repent and believe the Gospel.
