Occasionally you come across a view worth sharing when talking with a person who has no Biblical basis for understanding the issues related to abortion. While a Christian has the understandings of the Bible from which to help them comprehend God's view on the subject of abortion, unbelievers do not.
Though this discussion could be modified a bit more to take out the uncertainty regarding the considerations of abortion for the person being spoken to, it does set up an interesting construct for an unbeliever to consider and is something worth watching and thinking about how you might want to consider talking with a person in an evangelism encounter who is a pro-choice unbeliever. To view it, click here.
Scripture: "For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous."
Reflection: The Apostle Paul goes back to the beginning to explain the present condition. He describes the origin of sin when Adam disobeyed God. As descendents of Adam and Eve, all of us are now living in a fallen state. To make a way for us to be forgiven, God Himself had to lay down His own life to get us back. Only through Jesus' Christ's perfect sacrifice can man be made "righteous" before God.
Application: When sharing the Gospel, providing a basis for the origin of sin. When you use the law to bring the knowledge of sin and provide the origin of it through the creation account, it offers listeners a basis for how mankind got into this present condition. Try to use the creation account to help people understand what was happening before the fall and after the fall as you share the Gospel with them.
The New King James Version. Nashville: Thomas Nelson, 1982. Romans 5:19.
Background: What if you could see what your life would have been like if you had chosen to take a different path and married a different person in your life? In the telling of the story, the movie touches on the concepts of caring, sharing, love, giving, and devotion to Jesus Christ for a man who would appear by the world's standards to have a great life with a new girlfriend he plans to marry and spend a weekend with in Paris when his plans are interrupted and he is given a glimpse of what his life would be like had he stuck to his previous plan of following his career path of Seminary and marrying woman he knew years before. He has a dream or visiion and within it, an angel gives him a chance to experience what would have happened. The are several twists and turns and will keep you interested in how it turns out.
Scripture: "Now it happened in Iconium that they went together to the synagogue of the Jews, and so spoke that a great multitude both of the Jews and of the Greeks believed. 2 But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles and poisoned their minds against the brethren. 3 Therefore they stayed there a long time, speaking boldly in the Lord, who was bearing witness to the word of His grace, granting signs and wonders to be done by their hands."
Reflection: There were both Jews and Greeks that were responding to the Gospel that the disciples were preaching. In the midst of what was happening, Jews sought to "poison" those where were hearing the truth and causing them to turn "against" the disciples. But instead of leaving the situation behind, they "stayed there a long time" and didn't just quietly go about sharing the Gospel, they did so "boldly" and incredible authenticating signs were brought about through them.
Application: We should not be surprised when we face opposition. We should pray for abundant and plentiful results, but not be shocked when others step in to try to overturn what has been planted. Instead of giving up, let us press on and continue to share "boldly" as these early disciples did and continue to proclaim the life-changing message of the Gospel and it just may be that God will supernaturally bring about the growth that only He can produce.
